SIX DIVISIONS · ONE POINT OF RESPONSIBILITY

Industrial Engineering, Fabrication, and Installation Services

Take one division or take the whole project. Either way, one company is accountable for the outcome.

Miller 3 Engineering performs every service below in house. No brokered labor, no pass-through subcontracting on core scope, no gap between the drawing and the weld.

Most industrial projects fail at the seams, not in the middle

The structural steel is fine. The rigging is fine. The piping is fine. What breaks is the handoff between them, and the person holding that handoff is usually a facility engineer who already has a plant to run.

Four vendors means four schedules, four safety orientations, four sets of drawings that do not quite agree, and four opinions about whose scope the anchor bolts were. It also means that when field conditions differ from the drawings, nobody has the authority to fix it on the spot. Everybody stops and waits for a decision.

We eliminate seams by owning both sides of them.

How we execute

Pre-install site walks and conflict identification. Before the quote hardens, we walk the space. Access routes, clearances, existing utilities, structural capacity, and what is actually in the way.

Coordination with facility engineering, maintenance, and OEMs. Scope boundaries in writing, early. Ours, theirs, yours.

Prefabrication to reduce on-site time and disruption. The more that gets welded in Rancho Cordova, the less that gets welded in your production area.

Field-led execution with real-time problem solving. Practical, field-driven solutions when conditions differ from drawings.

Tight sequencing to meet shutdown windows and deadlines. Off-hours and weekend work when the calendar demands it.

    What single-source accountability actually removes

    • One safety orientation instead of four
    • One schedule instead of four that each assume they go first
    • One insurance certificate to chase
    • One phone call when a field condition changes
    • No scope gaps between structural, rigging, mechanical, and utilities
    • No change order arguing that the conflict was somebody else's drawing

    Common questions

Can I hire you for just one division?

Yes. Every service listed here is performed in house and can be contracted on its own. Plenty of clients start with a single rigging job or one platform and expand from there. The EPC option exists for people who want the opposite: one contract covering engineering, procurement, construction, project management, commissioning, and startup.

What is the difference between your installation service and EPC?

Installation covers getting a defined piece of equipment set, connected, and handed over. EPC covers the whole project lifecycle, starting at concept and engineering, including procurement of the equipment itself, and ending after commissioning and startup support. Installation is available within 600 miles. EPC is available within 300 miles because it requires much heavier ongoing project management presence.

Do you self-perform, or do you subcontract?

Engineering, fabrication, installation, and rigging are all in house. Rigging in particular is fully in-house, which is unusual for a shop this size and is the main reason we can compress install schedules. Specialty trades that require their own license, such as high-voltage electrical, are coordinated rather than self-performed.

    How quickly can you mobilize?

It depends on the distance, the shop backlog, and whether the scope needs stamped drawings or permits. Emergency and shutdown-window work is a normal part of the business, and being inside the 600-mile ring with our own rigging is what makes fast mobilization possible. Call (916) 842-7402 with the date you need to be running and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

    Do you work outside California?

Engineering, design, fabrication, and shipping are available nationwide, so we regularly design and build equipment that ships to plants we never set foot in. Field work is a different question: the 600-mile radius reaches across the West, with licensing verified per state before we mobilize, because each state has its own contractor licensing requirement and we confirm our position before quoting rather than after.

What industries do you know best?

Food processing, seed processing, manufacturing, packaging, printing, chemical processing, wastewater, breweries and wineries, and universities and research facilities. See industries served for what changes about our approach in each one.

Start with the scope, not the price

Tell us what has to happen and when the plant can be down. We will tell you which divisions it touches and what we need to see before we can put a number on it.
