DIVISION 06 · RIGGING · 600 MI FIELD RADIUS

In-House Rigging and Equipment Setting

Our rigging capabilities are fully in-house, allowing us to move and position equipment with our personnel.

We are also equipped to partner with logistics providers and end users to receive, offload, stage, and place equipment in its designated location. Within 600 miles of Sacramento.

Rented rigging turns your project into somebody's Tuesday

When a contractor subcontracts rigging, three things happen.

The schedule stops being yours. The rigging outfit has four other jobs that week, and yours moves when theirs moves. If the platform is not ready when they arrive, they leave and bill you, and the next opening is nine days out.

The full detail

The knowledge splits. The rigger knows how to lift it. The installer knows where it goes and to what tolerance. Those are two different people who met that morning, communicating through a foreman, over a running forklift.

The accountability splits. If the unit gets set 3/8 inch out of level and the OEM refuses to commission it, you now have two companies with a very sincere explanation each.

Agitate: None of that is visible in the bid. It shows up as the second mobilization, the standby hours, and the week the line did not start.

Solution: Ours is in house. Same company, same crew, same schedule, same accountability. When the field condition changes at 6 a.m., the person who can re-plan the lift is already on site because they work here.

What we do

What we do — In-House Rigging and Equipment Setting
ServiceDetail
ReceiveMeet the truck, verify against the packing list, document damage before signing
OffloadCrane, forklift, gantry, or skates, matched to the load and the access
StageProtected, sequenced, and positioned so the install order works
Move and positionThrough the plant, around live equipment, through doors that are barely wide enough
Set and anchorPrecision setting, anchoring, and alignment to the OEM's tolerance
RelocateEquipment relocation and facility reconfiguration within an existing plant

We also partner with logistics providers and end users, so if your freight forwarder has the delivery and you need somebody competent standing at the dock, that is a normal engagement.

Rigging inside a live plant

The lift is rarely the hard part. Everything around it is.

  • Route survey: door widths, ceiling heights, turning radii, floor loading, and the sprinkler head everybody forgets
  • Floor protection and load spreading over slabs, trench drains, and pit covers
  • Coordination with production so the aisle is clear when the load is in it
  • Lockout and isolation of adjacent equipment
  • Protection of finished surfaces, product zones, and sanitary areas
  • Clean job site at the end of every shift, not at the end of the job

The compression is real and it is arithmetic

A typical subcontracted sequence has hard stops at every handoff. Structural finishes, then wait. Rigger mobilizes, sets, demobilizes. Then the mechanical crew comes back. Each handoff has a queue in front of it, and queues are where calendar weeks disappear.

When the same company owns the steel, the rigging, and the mechanical scope, the handoffs are shift changes instead of mobilizations. The platform gets welded out in the morning and the unit lands on it that afternoon, because the crew that welded it is the crew that rigs it.

That is the practical reason we keep rigging in house. Not because it is cheaper on the line item. Because it removes the queues.

Common questions

What size equipment can you rig?

rigging is fully in-house, we move and position equipment with our own personnel within 600 miles of Sacramento, and heavy rigging and precision equipment setting is documented scope on live-plant installs.

Can you rig equipment you are not installing?

Yes. Rigging is available as a standalone service. Common standalone jobs: receiving and offloading an OEM shipment, moving equipment between buildings during a reconfiguration, and setting a machine that another contractor will connect.

Do you handle the trucking too?

We partner with logistics providers rather than operating our own fleet, and we are equipped to receive, offload, stage, and place equipment arriving from someone else's truck. If you want a single point of contact from the manufacturer's dock to the anchor bolts, say so in the RFQ and we will coordinate the freight side.

How far in advance do you need to schedule a lift?

The lift itself needs less lead time than the preparation around it. What drives the calendar is the route survey, floor protection, coordination with production, and whether the receiving structure is ready. Call as soon as you have a delivery date, even if nothing else is settled.

Can you move equipment inside a plant that is running?

Regularly. Equipment relocation and facility reconfiguration are defined services, and executing inside active production environments is a core part of how we work. The plan usually involves moving in stages around production, protecting product zones, and doing the disruptive portion off-shift.

Are your riggers your own employees?

Yes. Our rigging capabilities are fully in-house, and we move and position equipment with our personnel. That is the entire reason this service exists as its own division rather than a line item we buy from someone else.
